Sungrow’s new E-Storage system is making waves in the energy world. The company’s latest battery storage product is built for commercial and industrial use. It’s designed to meet growing power demands, especially from U.S. data centers.
The system stores between 225 and 229 kilowatt-hours of energy. It delivers 110 kilowatts of AC power and works best for two-hour applications. Its round-trip efficiency exceeds 90%, meaning very little energy is lost during storage and use. The power conversion system hits up to 98.6% efficiency on its own.
The E-Storage uses Lithium Iron Phosphate, or LFP, batteries. This chemistry is known for being stable and safe. The system’s AI-powered thermal management cuts heat loss by 33%. It also keeps temperature differences between cells at 2.5°C or less. That level of control helps the battery last longer.
Speaking of lasting, the system’s reportedly rated for at least 6,000 charge cycles before dropping to 70% capacity. That’s a strong lifespan for heavy daily use. A 10-year standard warranty reportedly covers both the batteries and the power conversion system. Owners can extend that to 15 years if needed.
Safety’s a big part of the design. The system has five layers of protection, including overcurrent control, arc extinguishing, and over-temperature shutoffs. It also has triple-layer fire protection with early thermal runaway warnings. The unit carries an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance. It’s reportedly certified under UL9540, NFPA855, and IEC 62443.
One cabinet measures roughly 1,610 × 1,150 × 2,450 millimeters and weighs an estimated 3,100 kilograms. Up to 10 cabinets can run in parallel, pushing total storage to 2.25 megawatt-hours per installation. Installation takes as little as eight hours thanks to its pre-assembled, plug-and-play design. Its stackable, cable-free design between modules makes assembly fast and clean while supporting easy future expansion or service.
The system connects to Sungrow’s iSolarCloud platform for real-time monitoring. It supports remote firmware upgrades, allowing operators to keep systems current without on-site technician visits. It’s also compatible with third-party energy management systems through Modbus TCP. Sungrow’s already secured 2.4 gigawatt-hours of battery storage agreements in Europe. The E-Storage system’s clearly aimed at keeping that momentum going in the U.S. market.
