energy chief opposes green agenda

Christopher Wright, Trump’s energy chief, has declared war on what he calls the “delusional” green agenda. The former Liberty Energy CEO wasted no time, pausing EV charging station construction and freezing wind permits on day one. He’s fast-tracking drilling permits while dismissing climate change as “fake news.” Meanwhile, renewable energy hit record growth in 2024. Scientists are alarmed, lawsuits are flying, and energy companies are stuck in an awkward balancing act.

Christopher Wright is waging war on America’s clean energy future. The newly appointed Energy Secretary—former CEO of Liberty Energy, the nation’s second-largest fracking company—has bulldozed his way through climate policies since day one of Trump’s administration in 2025. Not surprising for a guy who thinks climate change is basically fake news.

On his first day, Wright declared a “national energy emergency.” Because apparently having clean air and livable temperatures is the real emergency? He immediately paused construction of EV charging stations and froze wind energy permits. Solar panels look scared, too.

Energy emergency declared—clean air now officially more threatening than climate collapse

Wright’s fossil fuel love affair is on full display. He’s fast-tracking drilling permits faster than teenagers approve Instagram follows. Federal lands? Open for business. Arctic National Wildlife Refuge? Drill, baby, drill. Methane regulations? Who needs ’em! Paris Climate Agreement? Au revoir.

The man literally ordered the EPA to review whether greenhouse gases are even harmful. Next, he’ll question if water is wet. Wright insists climate impacts are “overwhelmed by energy benefits,” a position that might make sense if you’re selling fracking equipment but seems less compelling if you’re, you know, living on planet Earth.

His economic arguments sound straight from 1982. Green policies apparently harm competitiveness. Fossil fuels are necessary for growth. Clean energy shifts cost too much. Wright’s position directly contradicts global trends showing record levels of investment in renewable energy technologies as costs continue to decrease. He recently announced plans to revoke EV mandates as part of his regulatory overhaul. Despite his claims, solar energy installation reached a record 31 gigawatts in 2023, showing the significant momentum behind renewable energy. It’s the same old tired playbook, just with a fresh coat of oil.

Scientists are sounding alarms. Environmental groups are filing lawsuits. Even some energy companies are awkwardly maintaining their clean energy goals while Wright dismantles America’s climate infrastructure.

But Wright doesn’t care. He’s busy promoting “energy dominance” while calling climate policies “misguided and alarmist.” The real delusion? Thinking we can keep burning fossil fuels without consequences.

Wright’s war on renewables might win some battles, but physics and reality will ultimately decide the war.
